INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
I see a wide range of clients seeking individual counseling: adolescents, adults, men, and women. Anyone that is having difficulty in life, whether a behavioral or emotional issue, individual counseling can help alleviate and address the spot of bother in your life. Depression, anxiety, addiction, anger, conflict, abuse and other mood and personality disorders can make your life feel extremely overwhelming and hopeless. Because of this, it is important that you get help.
It is logical to assume that if you just change your circumstances, the unmanageable issues in your life would undoubtedly go away. Unfortunately, no matter how far you try to escape from your current reality by getting that higher paying job, moving into the house of your dreams, or simply making "better" friends, you still remain the common denominator in these pursuits. The truth is, you take yourself with you wherever you go.
Individual counseling provides an environment that addresses your issues and difficulties right where you are at. Of course, individual counseling will be mindful of your circumstances and your day-to-day, but most importantly will focus on the deeper, internal issues of your story, who you are, what makes you tick, and look at what and how these issues have profoundly impacted your life. I feel called as a counselor to help you find your voice, grow in courage and strength, and begin to live out of your true identity as an image bearer of God.
COUPLES & MARITAL COUNSELING
MARRIAGE & COUPLES COUNSELING. A snide remark or a minimizing eye roll can send the most loving and caring couple into a vortex of intense fighting. It can be mind-numbingly frustrating when you experience your spouse or yourself albeit, at your worst. There are few moments that feel as suffocating, hopeless, and futile as fighting with the person you love the most. Going toe-to-toe with your spouse brings forth a side of the relationship that produces a disorienting fear. You react by yelling, shutting down, throwing things, slamming doors, retreating, being passive aggressive, and dominating. Certainly no couple can knock it out of the park every time, but you can strive to navigate the treacherous waters of conflict with dignity and love as you fail, fight, and reconcile within your marriage. It is not if, but when conflict comes to your door, marriage or couples counseling is a way to begin the profound journey of love, commitment, intimacy, and reconciliation with your spouse.
PREMARITAL COUNSELING. I also do premarital counseling for those that are engaged or believe marriage is in their future. It is never too early to know the patterns you and your soon-to-be mate are already establishing. When you get in an argument, which one of you withdraws? Who escalates? “We get along great! We never fight.” Does this sound familiar? Remember, conflict is inevitable. Begin the process of learning how to fight and the wonderful journey of discovering one another.
GROUP THERAPY
Group Therapy is a great way to look at your life in the context of community. How do others experience you? Do people find you abrasive and intimidating? Do you feel invisible when you are in a group setting? Are you the class clown or are you the cynic? Group therapy helps you socialize with others, know that you are not alone in your struggle, and offers support and hope to you in your time of distress.
I currently offer a men's sexual addiction group. If you are interested in joining or want more information about this group contact me.
